What is Schnitzel?
Schnitzel is a tender cut of meat that has been carefully pounded until thin. It is traditionally coated in flour, egg and crispy breadcrumbs, then pan-fried to golden brown deliciousness.
Did you know that schnitzel has its roots in Europe, with the famous Wiener Schnitzel (made from veal meat) originating in Austria? Despite being hugely popular in Austria and German cuisine today, pork schnitzel and unique variations like Asian chicken schnitzel have become a staple delicacy across many European countries, and are also enjoyed with countless regional twists!
While Wiener Schnitzel is traditionally made with veal meat, variations using pork, chicken or even lamb have become just as popular, each offering its own unique flavour profile and texture.
