With more than 600 team members working across our Australian sites, ensuring a secure and supportive work environment is fundamental to our success. Every new team member undergoes comprehensive safety training from day one, equipping them with the knowledge and practices needed to work safely and confidently. 
Safety is more than a policy—it’s a shared commitment woven into our daily operations. We foster a proactive culture where everyone is responsible for maintaining a hazard-free workplace, reinforcing best practices every shift. Through continuous monitoring, frontline leaders provide safety guidance and updates, ensuring that risk awareness remains a priority. 
By embedding safety into every aspect of our work, we protect our teams, enhance operational efficiency, and reinforce a workplace where people feel empowered, valued, and secure. At HelloFresh, safety is not just a standard—it’s the foundation of everything we do.

We are Committed to a Safe Work Environment

At HelloFresh, safety is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to fostering a proactive safety culture where every team member feels empowered to speak up, contribute ideas, and help shape a safer work environment. 
To support this, we have an employee-led Safety Committee group focused on collaboration and workplace improvements—including safety initiatives. This platform will allow employees to actively participate in designing safer workflows, sharing concerns, and implementing solutions that protect our teams. 
We provide multiple ways for employees to engage in safety discussions, including direct conversations with leaders, onsite safety teams, and participation in regular safety engagement activities. We also conduct toolbox talks and All Hands forums to encourage open dialogue on hazard prevention and workplace improvements. 
Our safety team ensures that safety remains central to team discussions, organising events that address workplace wellbeing and inclusion. Additionally, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers confidential support for team members seeking guidance on personal or work-related concerns. 
Together, we are building a workplace where safety is a shared responsibility, communication is encouraged, and every team member plays a role in creating a secure and healthy environment.

We Listen to Our Employees

Our hourly employees prepare customer orders and work in full-time, part-time and casual roles that offer competitive pay – our starting rate for a permanent production operative is $24.98per hour, which is 3.65% higher than the national living wage. Every year employees receive a pay rise in accordance with the CPI increase. For our salaried colleagues, we also conduct a yearly performance based pay review. 
All HelloFresh staff, whether salaried or hourly, receive a selection of benefits outside of the workplace. These include a discount for HelloFresh and Every Plate boxes and an Employee Assistance Programme. We pride ourselves in rewarding our employees for their hard work and effort with quarterly Zest Awards. Staff members are nominated by other employees, managers and line leaders based on our DNA values. The winner receives a shoutout during quarterly All Hands and receives a gift voucher.

We Offer Competitive Pay and Benefits

To manage variation in customer demand, HelloFresh works with third-party partners who help supplement our workforce. Starting as a temporary employee is one way to step into a regular, full-time role at HelloFresh. In 2024 59 people transitioned from temporary workers to HelloFresh employees. 
We expect all our suppliers, including our staffing partners to comply with all applicable laws and our Ethical Trading Policy. Our Ethical Trading Policy sets minimum standards regarding human rights, environmental standards and fair business that HelloFresh understands as the foundation of all our business activities. The <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1n91l_MJdyGi5sT77v3kNSeJ9IaubDDfQ/view" ty>Ethical Trading Policy</a> prohibits any forms of forced or bonded labor (including any form of modern slavery or human trafficking), child labor, discrimination, harassment, harsh or inhumane treatment. It also requires suppliers to respect worker rights, provide a safe and hygienic workplace, and ensure timely payment of wages. 
We use <a href="https://www.sedex.com/">Sedex</a> (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) as our main provider of ethical assurance for companies within our supply chain. In addition, we request audits based on the SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) standard to verify our suppliers’ compliance with our ethical trading standards.

We Set High Expectations for Our Suppliers and Hold Them Accountable

At HelloFresh, we believe everyone deserves access to wholesome, nutritious meals. That’s why we foster relationships with the local charities OzHarvest and Foodbank surrounding our Distribution Centres.
