Cooking Steps

Get prepped
1

• Preheat oven to 240°C/220°C fan-forced.
• Finely chop garlic, brown onion (see ingredients) and carrot.
• Slice fresh lasagne sheets in half lengthways, then into thirds across to create
6 equal rectangle pieces.

Start the sauce
2

• In a large ovenproof pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat.
• Cook beef & pork mince, onion and carrot until tender, 4-5 minutes.
• Add garlic and garlic & herb seasoning and cook until fragrant, 1 minute.
• Add diced tomatoes with garlic & onion and the water, stir, then bring to
the boil.
• Season generously with salt and pepper.

Add the pasta
3

• Gently stir in the cut lasagne sheets, then evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella
and Parmesan cheese on top.
• Transfer pan to oven and bake until pasta is ‘al dente’ and sauce is bubbling,  10-12 minutes.

TIP:  ‘Al dente’ pasta is cooked through but still slightly firm in the centre.

Finish & serve
4

• Divide one-pot cheesy beef and pork ‘lazy girl’ lasagne between bowls.
• Garnish with a pinch of chilli flakes (if using) to serve. Enjoy!

Review summary

Updated on July 2026
  • Flavour: Many found the dish delicious and hearty, though several felt it was mild and suggested adding tomato paste or Worcestershire sauce to build a richer, more robust sauce.
  • Ease of prep: The one-pot approach was widely praised for being quick and easy, with minimal washing up — though some found stirring in the lasagne sheets a little tricky.
  • Suggestions: Adding a bechamel or white sauce on top would bring it closer to a traditional lasagne; some also recommended doubling the mozzarella and using a wide frying pan rather than a saucepan for better results.
  • Portions: Several reviewers found the pasta-to-meat ratio unbalanced, with too many lasagne sheets relative to the sauce and mince — using one packet for three people was suggested.
  • Technique: Ensuring enough liquid in the pan is key, as exposed lasagne sheets can dry out and turn hard during baking if the sauce does not fully cover them.
