Black Friday takes place in late November each year, on the Friday after Thanksgiving in America. Although it started there, it is now a major shopping event in countries around the world and is typically followed by Cyber Monday

Where does the Black Friday name come from?

One explanation says that Black Friday got its name from the traffic jams and crowds caused by American shoppers on the days following Thanksgiving. Another explanation is that massive sales made on Black Friday meant businesses were bringing their balance sheets back ‘in the black’.

How long do Black Friday sales last?

Black Friday sales often run through the weekend, from the Friday after Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday. HelloFresh Black Friday offers may only be available for a limited time, so it is worth checking the current deal while the promotion is running.

Where does the Black Friday date come from?

Black Friday sales originated in the United States back in the 1960s. Many workers would take a day off on the Friday after Thanksgiving to create a long weekend. This became a popular time for early Christmas shopping, so retailers started offering promos.

Is Black Friday celebrated worldwide?

While Black Friday originated in the United States, it has since become a popular sales event around the world, including Australia and New Zealand. Today, brands such as HelloFresh take part by offering promotions suited to their local markets.

What is the difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday?

Black Friday traditionally focused on in-store shopping, while Cyber Monday was created for online deals. However, the line between the two has blurred in recent years, and both online and in-person offers are now common across the weekend.
