How to Make Mango Chutney

How to Make Mango Chutney

If you have some mango in your fridge that needs using up, making your own mango chutney can be a great addition to your lunch meal box. Follow these steps below to make yours:

  1. Peel and chop two ripe mangoes, then combine them with a small chopped onion, one clove of garlic, two teaspoons of grated ginger, and one chopped green chilli in a saucepan.
  2. Add 100g of brown sugar, 100ml of vinegar, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Simmer the mixture over low heat for about 30 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once cooled, store in a jar for up to two to three weeks.

While a homemade chutney recipe is delicious, having a ready-made mango or caramelised onion chutney at home is also a convenient option. Store-bought chutneys are packed with flavour and can be used in a pinch for quick recipes.

You can still cook fresh meals with ready-made chutney. Try adding it to Indian dishes for a boost of sweetness and spice in your curries and grilled meats with roasted vegetables. Doing this can help save you time in the kitchen without compromising on taste.
