Tender chicken is slathered with tangy tartare sauce and stacked inside a toasted burger. Served alongside golden fries dusted in iconic chicken salt, this takes takeaway fish-and-chip night to a whole new level.

Cooking Steps

Bake the fries
1
  • Preheat oven to 240°C/220°C fan-forced. Cut potato into fries.
  • Place on a lined oven tray. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat.
  • Bake until tender, 20-25 minutes.

TIP: If your oven tray is crowded, divide between two trays.

Cook the chicken
2
  • When the fries have 10 minutes remaining, place your hand flat on top of chicken breast and slice through horizontally to make two thin steaks.
  • In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  • Cook chicken steaks until cooked through, 15-18 minutes each side (cook in batches if your pan is getting crowded). Transfer to a plate. Season with a pinch of salt.
TIP: The chicken is cooked when it is no longer pink inside.
Get prepped & heat the buns
3
  • Meanwhile, finely shred baby cos lettuce (see ingredients).
  • Halve bake-at-home burger buns. Place buns, cut-side up, on a lined oven tray and sprinkle with Cheddar cheese.
  • Bake until cheese is melted, 2-3 minutes.
Finish & serve
4
  • To the tray with fries, sprinkle over chicken salt (see ingredients) and toss to coat.
  • Spread burger bun bases with tartare sauce. Top with shredded cos and chicken.
  • Divide cheesy chicken sandwich and chicken salt fries between plates. Enjoy!
