This one's for the flavour chasers. A juicy umami-packed beef patty is melted into a gloriously golden, pressed sandwich and served with a rich dipping sauce that takes each bite somewhere next level. A sharp, creamy horseradish sauce cuts through the depth with just the right amount of kick, while crispy fries round out the plate for a meal that's bold, indulgent and unapologetically satisfying.

1 tsp

1 piece

(Contains: Eggs)
0.3 cup
boiling water

• Preheat oven to 240°C/220°C fan-forced.
Cut potato into fries.
• Place on a lined oven tray. Drizzle with olive oil,
season with salt and toss to coat.
• Bake until tender, 20-25 minutes.
TIP: If your oven tray is crowded, divide between two
trays.

• Thinly slice brown onion.
• In a large bowl, combine beef mince, fine
breadcrumbs, herb & mushroom seasoning
and the egg. Shape beef mixture into roughly
equal-sized balls (2 per person).

• In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over
medium-high heat.
• Cook onion, stirring regularly, until softened,
5-6 minutes.
• Reduce heat to medium. Add the balsamic vinegar,
brown sugar and a splash of water and mix well.
Cook until dark and sticky, 3-5 minutes. Transfer to
a small bowl.

• Return frying pan to medium-high heat with a
drizzle of olive oil.
• Place balls into the pan, smashing down with a
spatula, until roughly 1cm thick. Cook until just
cooked through, 3-4 minutes each side (cook in
batches if your pan is getting crowded).
• In the last 1-2 minutes of cook time, sprinkle
Cheddar cheese over patties and cover with a lid
(or foil) so cheese melts.

• While the patties are cooking, boil the kettle.
• Halve bake-at-home continental rolls then place directly on wire racks in oven and bake until heated through, 5 minutes.
• In a small bowl, combine beef braise sauce with the boiling water.

• Spread horseradish sauce on the base of
continental rolls, then top with a cheesy smashed
beef patty, caramelised onion and rocket leaves.
• Serve with fries and consommé for dipping. Enjoy!
