What is Feta?
Feta is a traditional Greek cheese, mostly known for its crumbly texture and tangy flavour. It’s made primarily from sheep’s milk or sometimes a combination of both sheep and goat’s milk. Feta undergoes a distinctive fermentation process, unlike many other cheeses and is aged in brine to intensify flavours and preserve freshness.
Feta cheese is often used in salads, sandwiches, and pastries, adding a creamy richness and a hint of saltiness to the dish. Its crumbly texture makes it perfect for crumbling over dishes as a finishing touch or incorporating into dips and spreads. Alternatively, it can even be baked and served warm, like when stirred into pasta sauce. Whether enjoyed on its own or as part of a delicious feta recipe, the salty cheese adds a taste of the Mediterranean to any meal.
