Customer reviews

Review summary

Updated on July 2026
  • Flavour: The pork, apple, and thyme combination was a hit with many, though some found the filling a little mild and suggested adding onion or extra herbs and spices.
  • Ease of prep: Most found these quick and straightforward to put together, though a few noted the filo pastry was fiddly to work with.
  • Suggestions: Several customers preferred puff pastry over filo for a more classic sausage roll result. Some also recommended doubling the pork mince for a fuller, more satisfying filling, and a few noted that extra breadcrumbs or seasoning helped improve the texture and flavour.
  • Leftovers: There is typically quite a bit of filo pastry left over; some customers used it to make fruit strudel or an extra batch of rolls to freeze.
  • Portions: Many felt the eight bite-sized pieces fell well short of serving six or more adults, and several added extra mince to make the recipe go further.
