Cooking Steps

1
1

• Preheat oven to 240°C/220°C fan-forced. • Cut potato into fries. • Place fries on a lined oven tray. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with garlic & herb seasoning and season with salt. Toss to coat. • Bake until tender, 20-25 minutes. • In the last 5 minutes, sprinkle shaved Parmesan cheese over fries. Bake until cheese is melted and golden, a further 5 minutes.

TIP: If your oven tray is crowded, divide the fries between two trays.

2
2

• Meanwhile, grate carrot.

3
3

• In a large bowl, combine pork mince, fine breadcrumbs, Nan's special seasoning, the egg and a generous pinch of salt. • Using damp hands, form heaped spoonfuls of mixture into meatballs, then flatten to make 2cm-thick rissoles (3-4 per person). Set aside on a plate.

4
4

• In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat. • Cook rissoles, in batches, until browned and cooked through, 3-4 minutes each side.

5
5

• Meanwhile, combine a drizzle of the balsamic vinegar and olive oil in a medium bowl. • Season, then add mixed salad leaves and carrot. Toss to coat.

Little cooks: Help toss the salad!

6
6

• Divide pork rissoles, cheesy fries and salad between plates. • Drizzle dill & parsley mayonnaise over rissoles. • Sprinkle flaked almonds over salad to serve. Enjoy!

Little cooks: Add the finishing touch by drizzling the mayo and sprinkling the almonds on top!

Customer reviews

Review summary

Updated on July 2026
  • Flavour: The pork rissoles are widely praised for their flavour, with the dill-parsley mayo frequently called out as the standout element that ties the dish together. The cheesy fries are a crowd favourite, though some found the Parmesan quite strong and a few preferred the fries without cheese.
  • Ease of prep: Most customers found this a quick and easy weeknight meal, with straightforward instructions suitable for beginner cooks and kids to help with.
  • Suggestions: Some found the rissoles a touch bland or salty — reducing Nan's special seasoning or skipping the extra salt pinch can help balance the flavour. A few customers finished the chips in an air fryer for better crispiness, and one noted that using two eggs made the rissole mixture too loose, suggesting one egg is sufficient.
  • Leftovers: Leftover rissoles work brilliantly the next day — several customers enjoyed them in wraps or burgers for lunch, with one noting the dish tasted even better the following day.
  • Portions: Many customers felt the pork mince was insufficient for a family of four, with several buying an extra 250–500g of mince and noting the seasoning quantities stretch comfortably to cover it. A few also wished for more potato and a more substantial salad.
