What is orecchiette?
Orecchiette is a traditional pasta from the Puglia region in southern Italy, named for its distinctive ‘little ear’ shape. Made simply from semolina flour and water, its domed centre and slightly rough surface make it perfect for holding thick sauces, vegetables and meats.
Often featured in rustic, hearty meals, orecchiette pairs beautifully with everything from broccoli dishes and sausage recipes to creamy tomato sauces, slow-cooked ragu recipes and roasted vegetables. It’s also great in lighter meals — think pasta salads with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and basil, or tossed with lemony greens and pulses for a fresh, balanced lunch.
Loved by kids and adults alike, orecchiette is a pantry staple that fits right into any family meal plan, making it easy to whip up quick, delicious dinners.
